Harbour Flatty and King 23.01.09

Got there today with drkcld, i then got a hook up within 10minutes, but i think i didnt tie the knot properly so the hook came off. =(

Then drkcld was next, he lands a 62cm king, and released it, everyone there was cussing at us about releasing an undersized king. (later on they kept 2 undersized kings (50cms) and hid it in the car after we told them it was undersized.)

5 minutes later, drkcld lands another kingie, this time a 68cm was landed. I kept it for chinese new yr.

And drkcld scores again with a 50cm flattie, its pretty decent. I was surprised a flattie took the bait in middle column.

also drkcld got a $80 parking fine for 3 minutes too late. f*** you council!

hahah had planned to go out today and be there at 6am but instead i was woken up by my mates phone call at 6am!
who had just got there without bait waiting for me hahah
so i hurried up and headed to the spot with the "bait" =)
he called me at 6.30 telling me george had landed a 83cm kingy at the spot, his pb =) congratz to him
well got to the spot burleyed up, kingies came to the surface threw in some line and BANG the kingy took it on the surface. the fight lasted 5 seconds, netted it straight away
came to be 75cm but far out the size of this thing! was fat assssss, it was spewing all our burley back out
its stomach was 5x the size of its head hahah =) wasnt pregnant either =P just faaaaat

after an hr we gave up due to no more bait so we had did our last burley and last cast, then bang hooked up a kingy brought it up to be around 73cm, decided to throw it back in since we had already packed our gear and one kingy was already enough, decided to fight it again another day =)

heres a video of the release... allan (disco) and his brother said just spear it back in, but i knew u had to revive it a bit first because it was tired
but oh wells took the kingy around a minute to revive itself

Harbour kingies, but they aren't local kings 17/01/09

73cm and 77cm 4kg king caught by drkcld.

Another Seriola lalandi landbased syd harbour and a Fat King

reporting for 14th and 16th Jan 2008.

14th: big kings everywhere on the surface, caught 1 at 70cm, and got 3 videos recorded by julie

16th Jan:

got 5 runs in 30mins and 1 fat 75cm 4kg king was landed. Allan loses his 80cm+ kingie on the surface. I lost 2 kingies to pylon and structure.

Harbour Kings 13.1.09

we caught another kingie today, and lost 2. somehow the line broke.

Got Allan (aka G7G7) onto his first landbased kingfish and first of this season for him.

Harbour Kings 10.01.09

WEnt out with drkcld's cousin and her friends and got them into a king.

LOL its landbased fishing charter.

Anyways got one run within a few minutes but lost it to the pylon, it was on the surface, 70cm model.

Then my overhead went off, i picked it up and it dropped it. Next drkcld's rod went off and gave it to his cousin to try out how fishing for a kingy feels like, she pumped and wind like crazy but was overpowering her in such a short time, so she gave it to her boyfriend to finish it off. Landed this kingie at 72cm.

After that we had a few more runs. I had one on the oceano reel n jigging rod, and it was soooo much easier to pump and wind than those 10ft rods we use normally. It ran towards a structure and busted me off, i was sad =(

The we kept having little runs then dropping it.

The kingie we gut had a powerbait softplastic inside haha, now i know what color to use ^_^

Also this guy was fishing for surgeons and landed one around 45cm, using only sinking braid and alot of sinkers.

It sucks how i didnt go yesterday or today. I missed out on heaps!

For yesterday, drkcld told me he pulled up a 1metre king to the surface and then his reel broke due to the pressure of the fish and then he lost it to the pylon, when the reel went into anti reverse.

Then today i get a mms from kingsrule of him finally catching an average king this season, he got it on cuttlefish, it was measured at 76cm.

Then drkcld gets one after kingsrule does, and lands a 72cm model

Harbour Kings 7.01.09

Went out today, drkcld put his first 2 bait down and within 5 mins he was on!

He lost the first one to a pylon. 2nd one lost it cuz it dived vertically and bust him off too.

Kingsrule came and joined us today. The i managed to extract a 73cm kingfish out of it.

went to pick up dazza and my mizzes in the morning
got to the spot burleyed a few here and there and straight away a hook up within 10 mins!
landed the king going at 75cm
after that there were around 10 kings which came up for the burley but never hit,
we had no hits for the next hr and my misses was getting sunburnt
so just before we went home we decided to burley the rest of the bait
and dazza landed a 70cm king which went around my other rods line

which gave it massive knots and i had to cut aroudn 5m of my braid off

while we were fixing up the lines his rod went off and ZZzzzZzz somehow the line wrapped around the tip of his rod and he couldnt reel in the kingy fast enough and he got pyloned

so we only had 1 rod left out there which we never realised until it went off like crazy without realising because the spool was open while we were gutting the kingy
oooout the line went without realising then dazza saw and i picked up the rod n BAM solid fish, this fish was big alright no doubt about it
i couldnt pump the fish at all with my rod it, it felt around 8kg

when i finally got it around 10m within me it had snapped my line off
i was thinking to myself god damn! maybe this was the kingy i lost yesterday which was around 90cm on the surface =(

well at the end of the day it was an excellent session and dazza wants to head out again tomorrow to see that fish i hooked up
