Hey guys we arrived again today at 6am, threw in our bait and was on within 1 hour.

Thought it was a big kingy at first as it didnt pull drag but it was DEAD heavy. It couldnt take any drag at all, so i thought it must of been gut hooked or something...

When we saw color it was huge! the scales of the fish reflected red, and thought it might be a snapper. When it got to the surface it was a huge jewfish. Well big for us as we never caught one before, so it was my first.

The fish had trouble fitting even in the net!

Weighed it and it was 6.5kg @ 92cm as my first jew!

All the people came along and took photos and was so surprised to see a big jewie, so are we! as we were targetting kingies.

This cyclist came pass and was so shocked to see the size he kept swearing non stop hahaha.

Anyways it was one of the best days of fishing this whole season so far.


Today had a really good overcast.

Xmas Kingie presents arrived within 2 hours

Finally i landed my first legal landbased kingie. What a feeling!

Alrite here's the story. Drkcld and I got there at 6am, my rod goes off first, then it some how snagged onto the bottom. I lifted it up a bit and it came off the snag, and pulled the fish in with 1 minute. It was so easy to pump, my first legal kingie at 75cm. The strangers next to me told me not to pump and wind fast, but they are soooo wrong. If i didnt i wouldve lost it as it was going to the pylon already lol, caught on 50lb line, drkcld missed the first netting as the kingie jumped out of it, but got it the 2nd time.

Next it was Drkcld's turn not long after me, people at the spot were just jealous cause we got another one hahaha he nicely pumped it out, but this one was alot weaker, maybe cause it was so FULL! (1 prawn, two undigested yakka, 2 hooks)

Anyways both of our kingies are taken to our Xmas BBQ for tonight. =)

Went home in 2 hours after a quick session. =)

Got there at 6am with drkcld but didnt have good enough bait! Only a bag of filthy old pillies.

So we decided to plastic and throw a stickbait and my other green squidgy around.

Drkcld was doing the usual until he got his first kingie on my stickbait! first time we got anything on stickbait. landed it and it was around 55cm or so, quick photo and back it went.

Drkcld was doing the usual again until he got his 2nd kingie, this time being pretty decent on the green squidgy. It was around 75cm model, he locked drag, he pumped and pumped, until it ran a bit more and it pulled the hook! Almost had it, but the hook just couldnt take the drag pressure.

headed back today with my mate n his mate from france
saw rob n tom come pass
brought my misses today, the spot was packed with a rod every 1/2 metre
was wondering how we would ever land a kingy like this
my misses caught a few yakkas n slimies, we lived them but nothing
when the sun started getting bright every left
and thats wen we got the hit on the yakka
BANG! locked my drag pulled it in
put up quite a fight on my oceano but still nothing compared to those bloody surgeons
ended up giving the kingy to my mates who came from france to let him have a taste of our local kingy heheh



Brian casted his yakka out after a long patient waiting game with his yakka under the pier the whole time. Straight away he had something on his yakka, but the hook was buried in the yakka so no hookup, he was pumping it, but the yakka slipped back out of the king, and followed it to the pier.

He casted it out again while Drkcld was fighting his kingie, so it was a double hook up, however since he locked drag it, the hook didnt set and lost it straight away, and the king stole the yakka lol

headed out again today but this time with dazza since he was so keen to land a kingy.
got to the spot at around 6am, just in time to see george unpack his gear hahah what a co-incidence seeing him 2 times in a row.
oh boy we got the spot and it was packed
i'd say around 6-7 different groups of fishos
rigged up n burleyed and my 2kg rod got hit and dazza grabbed it n put up a 1min fight n got busted hahah no idea what it was i'd say maybe a alrite size trev.
after a while my bait got smashed and while my spool was open it was taking out a lot of line, took around 1 min to pull the kingy in and dazza kept missing it with the net.

this was no ordinary king! i had realised that there were 2-3 lines coming out of its mouth, after i gutted this kingy i found another 2 hooks stuck on its guts.

an hr passed n no more hits so we burleyed n got ready to go then BANG zzZzZz closed the spool and my rod just instantly bent as if it was gonna break, pumped it a few goes and then ONCE AGAIN my 30lb FAULTY pen braid broke just like that when the kingy dived and i pumped.

hahah in the end i was the only one to hook up a kingy, not dazza, so we might head out again tomorrow to pick him up a kingy

1st legal king landed of the season!

Kenson scores a nice legal king for the team, on 30lb braid, and servo prawn.

King was gut hooked so it didnt fight much, it was like a snag or dead weight.

Just today, Drkcld caught another kingie this one at 60cm, was released, no photo. And he later loses a 75cm kingie on the surface when his crappy braid broke on him.
