Sydney Harbour 27.02.08

w0o0o0o got there and it was pouring, caught a small yakka in 10 mins and livebaited it for another 5 min before call it quits, first session lasted 30mins lol. Quickly packed up and stayed in the car for another 15 mins. Until the sky cleared and it fully stopped raining.

Started fishing again burleyed up and got myself a nice big yakka of 30.5cm then caught another at 32cm my PB for yellowtails! w00o0o0

Then i went to check my bottom bouncing rod loaded up with whole prawn. Sammy told me that the rod was stuck or something, so i went to check i turned the drag to max and i tried pulling thought it was a snag but it was actually something very heavy. i had to pump and wind with my 10kg rod for a while, with 30lb braid i was thinking it could handle it then it took a bit of drag!! wow i knew this was something like a big flattie cuz my drag was on max. Then wen it got to the surface i saw tentacles and i thought GIant squid! but no, it was a big octopus instead! my biggest one. LAnded it and kept it for bait.

After that commotion i went back to going for yakkas or Whatever thats down there, using my 10lb vanish and light tackle. something pulled! very strong and snipped my line straight away. I was thinking it might be a surgeon! LOL but then I dont think they come out at night. I went back again with my 10kg rod with 30lb braid and locked drag and 25lb Penn 10X trace. I finally got it hooked up but know it wasnt a surgeon it swam around and took a bit of drag, then i quickly lifted it up and it was a tailor measured 32cm! i havnt caught a legal tailor in a while at that spot. While lifting the tailor out onto the floor it bit my trace off! luckily it wasnt over the water. Wow they have sharp teeth.

Yep so it was a nice day back to fishing other than the thunderstorm we had to endure for like 30mins.

think i caught all this cuz it was straight after rain. This guy there was telling me the fish goes crazy during the rain, but i didnt wanna risk getting wet LOL.

Caught:
2x big yakkas (30.5, 32cm)
1x tailor (32cm)
1x big octapus

lost kingie and surgeons in harbour! >_<

Went there at 5:30am to be surprised with the usual 2 old asian couples with over 15 beach rods!!!! Thats why i had a hard time fighting the kingie cuz i had to go under all of them.

got there at 5:30 am, started squiding but noting. tried yakkas none. Then burley some soaked bread got a few yakkas. One was a whopping 30cm yakka! we kept it for bait lol.

anyways we proceeded fishing but it was very quiet and strange cuz there was no yakkas at all. Then we realised it mite be a kingie lurking around in that burley trail.

Then at 730am I head my lightest yakka rod (2-4, 9lb vanish) go off liek a steam train. I was using a tiny bit of prawn and a size 12 hook for yakkas LOL! and it took it!! cant believe it. yeh So started fighting the fish for 3 minutes and i had to go under like sooo many rods. and then it was getting tired. it went kinda around the pylon. I knew i was gonna lose the fight but my friend saw it floating on its belly on the surface lol but then it had one last run and cut me off!!!!! ARGH! there goes a 70cm+ kingie. Why couldnt it take my 20lb braid?! i guess kingies are greedy lol.

That was my first kingie hook up!!!

Yeh then we targetted surgeons. Drkcld managed to hook 2 up. One pulled hook and one threw the hook. the first surgeon was a visual hook up which was around 50cm.

Yeh it was a good day but didnt really bring any fish home. I am happy yet so sad

SURGEON SUCCESS @ syd harbour

Drkcld and I went to the harbour today in the morning at 11am, and was driving in the pouring rain even though forecast said it was raining we still went, while driving to the harbour we were praying that it wouldnt rain when we get there!

A miracle happened as we got there the cloudy sky had a hole directly above where we were fishing lol so no rain for us!!! and then later on it cleared up so it was good.

ANYWAYS! We always suspected there was surgeons there so we decided to burley up. A tonne of them came up all ranging from 30cm to 60cm surgeons! We got visual hook ups.

I lost 1 big surgeon to the pylon first, then Drkcld got a hook up also but it was heading straight for the pylon so he held on to his spool fishing at 30lb braid thinking it wouldnt break theN POP! goes the line and got owned by a big surgeon. Drkcld rigged up and then was onto another surgeon but this time it swam out instead of under the wharf. then finally landed this strong fish.

35cm surgeon
33cm blackfish was also caught amongst the burley trail.
