Quick Mullet/bream Session!

Weather: Fine
Temperature:23 degrees
Wind: 12 - 18 knots
Time: 3:30pm - 5pm, High tide 4:30pm

Decided to head down to Xspot for some mullet fishing hoping that the cold temperature wouldnt put the mullets off. Got there at 3:30pm and fished for about an hour with bread on floats. Got 12 breams. all on bread. Two was legal. 25cm and 32cm bream.

The funny thing was we thought we were gonna catch any mullets today and use wen i said ONE LAST CAST, i hooked up a mullet! finally it it had a few runs but landed it without a net. It was around 25cm. Then it was my mate's turn for his ONE LAST CAST and got him a 32cm bream lol very nice. It was really good fishing for just 1.5 hours.

All fish was released to fight another day = )

GREATEST MULLET FISHING SESSION!!!!

Weather: Fine but rained at 4:30pm
Temperature:31 degrees
Wind: 12 - 18 knots
Time: 12:45pm, High tide 1:30pm

WEnt to X spot to fish for mullets and got there with HEAPS AND HEAPS of bread over the ground and in the water. I guess someone was trying to feed the birds LOL. Well thanks to them it was a massive burley bomb for the whole place. Heaps and heaps of mullets was feeding off massive bread rolls.

I quickly setup with a clear float. and treble hook and folded the bread over the hooks and it works. and then my float disapears and zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz LOL THESE guys fight nearly as hard as a kingfish. Well actually not that hard but pretty tough to land them on light gear as we dont have a net >_<. There was hundreds of massive fat mullets all over my float and eventually one actually ate it and im fighting it with my small 2500 reel on 4lb fireline 6lb trace and a 3 ring guide telescopic rod. It went on fighting it for like 3 minutes. I had to make sure it was all tired out first cuz this fish was massive! i havnt worked out the size yet but probably about 50cm MULLET! Yeh i quicked smashed its head and it bled to death.

LOL moved onto catch another mullet. It was like 1 mullet every 1 to 5minutes. They were everywhere.

So yeh quickly hooked onto another one and all together hooked up:
6x mullets
2x Breams (undersized)
Lost: 3 mullet.

They took my bloody treble hooks! now i got no more. LOL no more mullet fishing. Yeh the bucket was getting full and probably weighed about 5kg+ altogether.

Henry came at around 2:15pm the action has died down but managed to get 3 more mullets wen he came. So that means i caught THREE mullets in 2hours. But the last 3 mullets i caught them within 20minutes although they were smaller.

And then eventually the rope slipped off and lost the crab trap >_<. anyways went to the bridge i used prawns and yabbies and caught a 5cm bream thru the eye lol felt sorrie for it. 60cm mullet!!! @ canterbury

Weather: Fine
Temperature:26 degrees
Wind: 0 - 12 knots
Time: 1pm, High tide 11:30am

This is a special fishing report for the purpose of my future fishing sessions at canterbury. So basically this is Henry that went fishing.

Got there around high tide and started fishing for mullets. There was heaps and heaps of mullets like the last session. Used a big foam float and used small hooks with a flake of bread. At around 1pm it strikes! ZZZZZZZZZZZzzzzz from his reel. While adjusting the drag the MASSIVE fish JUMPED OUT of the water. Henry thought it was a kingfish but it wasn't. Wen finally landed it was a bloody WHOPPING 60 CM BULLHEAD MULLET! hooked by the gills. He cubed the mullet and used it as fresh bait. Then onwards caught a legal bream every 4th cast! Fished till 5:30pm

Cooks River @ Canterbury 8.03.07

Weather: Fine
Temperature:25 degrees
Wind: 0 - 12 knots
Time: 10:30, High tide 11:30

Headed down to Fishing R us and bought like 40 live yabbies! first time i used live bait. Anyways went wif Henry down to canterbury my usual spot at 10:30 an hour before high tide. The yabbies had big pincers so one person had to hold the pincer then one had to hook the tail lol. So much of a hassle just to rebait but its worth it cuz it doesnt stink up ur hands like prawns. Yeh yabby after yabbie was lost as the hook wasnt hooked properly to the yabby's tail but then we hooked up a couple of just legal breams. Biggest being 30cm at 780gm. All up Henry bagged 1.6kgs fish home. LOL i told him not to eat it cuz its cooks river and its dirty. >_< We shouldve fished Iron cove theres so much more cleaner and bigger breams there. At iron cove last time one yabbie trades for one bream. It's crazy! Also wats amazing was today there was sooo many bait skools, theres tailors, poddy mullets and bullhead mullet all big skools and breams was chasing them for some odd reason. Yeh so i casted my 10gm metal lure and straight away hooked up a small tailor lol

There was some guy fishing for mullets and he caught a couple of breams and small mullets. But it was wen he hooked up this bullhead mullet it was soo fat and long. like 30cm but soo fat fought so hard too! Im soo gonna fish for mullets next time.
